Description

Water Clear casting resin for art, craft, scientific preservation, and commercial applications. Pre-promoted for a tack free finish. No special equipment required. IASCO E-Z-CAST can be poured in layers up to 1/2″ thick for embedment. Compatible with polyethylene, polyurethane, latex, and silicone molds. Shrinkage is approximately 6%, but this may vary considering catalyst ratios and mass variations. Great for taxidermy, jewelry, potting, and museum applications. IASCO E-Z-CAST may be tinted with transparent pigments from the IASCO 8 PACK TRANSPARENT DYE SET, or

pigmented with the IASCO 6 PACK OPAQUE DYE SET. Use 12 drops of catalyst per ounce of E-Z-CAST when poured at 1/4″ thickness. Shelf life when stored in a cool, dry place: 4-6 months. Catalyst shelf life:3-5 months.

HELPFUL HINTS FOR WORKING WITH IASCO E-Z-CAST AND MASS CAST RESINS

Optical clarity in a clear casting may be influenced by 1) surface texture, 2) air entrapment, or 3) embedment contamination. To achieve the maximum clarity possible, your mold surface must be smooth. Textured or rough surfaces may “frost” the surface and diminish clarity. Plate glass makes an excellent molding surface. Technique is the best way to reduce air entrapment. Pour the resin out of the can, and allow it to sit for about an hour, to liberate

any trapped air. Then, add the proper amount of catalyst (12 drops catalyst per ounce of resin at 1/4″ thick {E-Z-Cast}, or 4 drops catalyst per ounce at 4″ thick {Mass Cast}), and stir GENTLY, minimizing any agitation that will reintroduce air into the mix. Pour gently into mold. For superior management of air bubbles, a pressurized chamber is

used. An increase of 25-50 psi will create an environment that can not support a bubble in the resin. Pressure must be maintained throughout the cure cycle. Parting advice: Always use release agent, run a test sample, work with fresh material only, avoid contact with catalyst.
